British Columbia Cultivated Mushroom Industry Initiative

This initiative was reactivated in 2006, following a two-year hiatus, and a new five-year strategic plan was approved. The initiative’s mission is to strengthen the viability and development of the cultivated mushroom industry in British Columbia through industry research and development, and sector education and promotion.

This initiative will consider project proposals in the following areas:

1. Research and industry development activities to address areas of topical importance to the mushroom industry.
2. Food safety and quality.
3. Communication, technology transfer, skills development and industry capacity building.
4. Market development and diversification.
