I’ve had this combo for about three months and have almost 7,000 captures. The body is fantastic! I love the features, ease of use and quality. The kit lens, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. After less than three weeks use there was a huge chunk (not a speck) of debris on the inside of the front lens element. The build quality is less than acceptable even by my standards – there is too much play in the front element when fully extended and when hanging from a neck strap the lens always extends all the way leaving it more susceptible to damage. If I were to do it again, I would save the money to invest in a prime or L lens.

Because I now have severe arthritis in my left hip, I cannot walk the distances I used to, so I use my pedometer to guarantee a successful number of warm up steps in the morning; to take one 20 to 30 aerobic step walk during the day; and to keep myself on track for total steps each day to stay limber and feel healthy. It has become my health barometer!
5 PACK Canon 104
First of all, I have to admit that I’m a little confused because I purchased this (exact) camera from Amazon a year ago for $300 LESS. I’m not sure why the price jump. Anyway, I love my camera. I would call myself an “amateur enthusiast” as far as my photography knowledge. This camera was perfect for my skill level when I bought it and it has helped me grow as a photographer in the last year.
I haven’t had any technical difficulties with it (and i mean, literally, NONE). I shoot mostly in the AV mode and I like to play around in the manual mode. I’ve been incredibly happy with the super-macro setting quality. I wish it had a wider aperture range but that’s only because I may be outgrowing it a little. My next camera will be a (Canon) DSLR but there’s no way I could have skipped this model and went straight there. It’s quick to start up. I very, very rarely have to wait on it — only when I realize after a shot that I should have used the flash, then I’m impatient to retake it. The LCD screen is terrific in my opinion and I like that you can pretty much angle this camera any way you want without having to shoot blind.
Before I bought it I read all the reviews so I knew about the lens cap issue and I was expecting random troubles. I have had none. Yeah, the lens cap sucks. A lot. I mean, if you’re so much as WALKING hard it will fall off, but it’s hardly a deal breaker. It’s a minor annoyance that I’ll take with the rest of the package. I couldn’t be happier with this camera.
If you’re a hobby photographer who isn’t quite ready for a DSLR then this is the camera for you.

This lens hood also fits the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras. It’s too bad that isn’t clear in the product description, but Canon’s instructions that come with the lens recommend the ET60. It locks securely onto the lens and easily comes on and off, which is a good thing because it’s probably a bit too big to leave on all the time. Additionally, unless you have really thin fingers, you may need to remove it to get the lens cap on or off. Overall I’m definitely happy with this hood because it does the two things I want it to do:
1) It blocks a decent amount of stray light.
2) it gives your lens some added protection (I leave mine on pretty much all the time).
It also makes you look a little more professional, if you care about that sort of thing.

I love this little calculator. No cord to fight. I can use it anywhere. The only problem I have is that I can’t figure out how to load the tape. I’ll have my grandson do it. He’s good at stuff like that. When that gets done, it will be perfect.
