I live my Kindle 2 and my wife loves her Nook. The kindle is easy to use, and makes reading easier as I can have a business book, exciting mystery and a fun book all with me at the same time. Any eInk reader needs a light in darker areas, but it is superb in the sunshine, i.e. poolside. We bought covers to protect the screens from M-Edge as the cover also holds the light. Books are readily available but some are available on the Nook and not on the Kindle, the reverse is also true, which is one of the reasons we got both.
Getting newspapers delivered was an unexpected extra. We vacationed in a resort that did not have newspapers, so I was able to shop the Amazon store and get a newspaper delivered to the Kindle in the morning with no effort!
A major feature for me on the Kindle is to be able to underline text i.e. major points in the book and then connect the Kindle to my computer to edit and print out the notes. The keys on the Kindle don’t look as cool as the virtual keyboard on the Nook, but solid keys work better. Battery life is superb on the Kindle and longer than the Nook. I wish the Kindle had a removable battery and Memory like the Nook. The Kindle does have limited Internet availability so you can check the news or a stock poolside or while at the airport. Many things like these make the readers a little different so it may come down to personal choice of what is important.
In summary, I love the Kindle 2 and would buy another instantly if I lost it.
