I have to admit that I struggled with Twilight in the middle. The author seemed to repeat the same tired dialogue between Edward and Bella, refusing to let the plot advance. This book should have been much shorter or their relationship should have progressed beyond the tired high schoolish lines. However, from the trip to Edward’s house on, I couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I am a triathlete and I will say this is by far the best purchase I’ve made yet. Never had a single problem with it. Love the quick release to mount to my bike or wrist. Also, the free software is wonderful to keep track of all your workout/race data. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone who both cycles and runs.

Honestly, I expected to like this book. I love reading books that are adapted into films, so I figured I’d get a head start on this one — anything about a circus, I figured, would at least be interesting. I wasn’t disappointed. The protagonist is likeable, which is a must for me, the plot is well developed, and I like the continual transition from present-day Jacob to twenty-three year old Jacob. That said, I really wish the book were longer. I finished it in a single afternoon and I really thought the ending had been sewn up too quickly: So Rosie the elephant conveniently dispenses with August and our couple are left to live happily ever after…eh… I was expecting something more dramatic, more violent: a Jacob/August showdown, if you will. But the book seems to move too fast to accomodate a scene like this. Really, that’s my only complaint, though.
I snuck a peek at the other reviews before buying the book, and I was slightly put off about references to graphic sexual material and animal cruelty. And I have to say, I don’t get it. The animal cruelty is there, sure, but there isn’t much talk about blood and gore — it’s more about how Jacob responds to the cruelty, in my view. It doesn’t make it any less disturbing, but it’s not really horror movie material either. As for the sex stuff, I don’t get what the fuss is about. You can pick up almost any generic romance novel and read stuff that is far more graphic than what is found here. And I think it’s marketed as an adult novel, so no problems there…
In conclusion, it’s a good book. I’ll probably read it again and I think it’s worth the price I paid for it.

This book is truly incredible and has changed my outlook on life and has affected how I live day to day. From some of the most fundamental concepts to some of life’s most common questions this book has given me an opportunity to understand my place in the universe.

I’ve been using Excel for years and never had a problem with it before, but with this version, Excel 2007 on a new Dell desktop and Windows 7, it is constantly crashing, as in “Excel is not responding.” And I am not doing anything extremely complicated. Just simple stuff. It is so frustrating, it is basically unusable. Word 2007 looks ok and I haven’t used PowerPoint 2007 yet so I won’t comment on that. I have been exploring OneNote 2007 and it appears to be potentially useful.

I found this book in a dusty little corner of my local used bookstore (yes, they do still exist) and was intrigued by the title and premise. A few months later I have now read the entire trilogy and must say it really speaks directly to the soul, bypassing all the mental gatekeeping we humans come up with to deny ourselves direct contact with the source of our being. I’m not one of those folks who think that all religions are only in the business of building their own power by feeding gullible minds with fear and judgment — there are certainly very enlightened folks with open hearts and minds within organized religion. Yet, I’ve always been skeptical of the ones who try to tell you that their views are absolute and threaten you if you choose a different vehicle to find love and meaning in life. It’s just too obvious that anyone who tries to tell you that God is vengeful or would exclude some of us is just insecure in themselves. As Michael Franti says: “God is too big for just one nation, and God is too big for just one religion.” Yell Fire!

What tells me that Neale Donald Walsch has really tapped into the essence of God is that the books read as refreshingly and truthfully in 2009 as they must have when they first came out in the mid-90s. This phenomenon in itself is discussed in the book — the fact that God really is timeless and nameless. Too often we’re stuck in the dualistic mechanisms of our mind that tells us to divide everything — yesterday versus tomorrow, us versus them, believers vs non-believers. In that very same mindset we also like to look at “God” as a particular thing or person, something we can imagine or portray with our thoughts. And too often, religious texts create the same kind of hierarchy of spirit that we assign to our social structures on earth. For example, looking at God as “The Father” is a very common image conjured by a patriarchic mindset, as if there’s some sort of a guy sitting somewhere up there wagging his imaginary finger at

I had been keeping a close eye on Amazon.com and watching for a Kindle sale when they first became available. Common sense told me to be patient and wait for the second generation after all the “bugs” had been worked out. Smart move from what I’ve read from the customer ratings. But I digress…so when my darling husband asked, “Honey, what am I getting you for Christmas this year?”, I promptly told him he was getting me a Kindle and leather cover (M-EDGE) and a mini light (M-EDGE) so I could read when ever and where ever the mood strikes.

I’m hip-deep in Anthony Trollope just now and Kindle is seldom out of reach. The convenience of it’s portability, along with it’s data capacity is my choice for best features, but almost equally important is how simple it is to use and downloads are a snap. I get on Amazon.com to search my daily recommendations that Amazon provides and them I’m enthralled for the next hour or two trying to decide what to download next. The first thing I read was Sarah Palin’s GOING ROGUE. I was hooked! Kindle is so easy to navigate. What I really like is being able to come back to the place where I stopped reading if I’ve gone to the HOME spot. All I need do is scroll to the page and title and push the little square button by the MENU and whoosh, there I am back again where I left off.

I find that since my Kindle came to live with me I seldom have the TV on anymore. When I can spend an evening (morning, afternoon, or the wee small hours) with the likes of Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope, Elizabeth Gaskell, P. G. Wodehouse, Charles Dickins, Thomas Hardy, R. F. Delderfield, John Milton, St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Catherine of Sienna, I’m so glad I’m married to such a wonderful, thoughtful guy. God bless him! (I wonder what he has in mind for next Christmas? The complete works of Agatha Chrisie would be great!)

This has to be the best item I ever bought for myself! My wall to wall carpeting was so dirty after the contractors finished working in my family room. I saw this Steam/Vac spin scrubber on line and ordered it.
Let me tell you that the retrieval water was BLACK AND DIRTY.
I am so happy that I bought this cleaner that I believe I could become a spokesperson for this company. The cost of the scrubber more than pays for itself after the first use (considering the cost of professional cleaning.)
I love, love, love it!
