I love fantasy. Have read and re-read Harry Potter countless times. But I am by no means unable to enjoy reading other fantasy books. I loved the Bartimaeus trilogy and then someone told me about this series and I jumped right in. This being the 1st series in the novel, was a great read. I am not giving it 5 stars. The 1st book of most series aren’t necessarily the best. You get to know the basic plot and characters of the series and hopefully the following books will build on this even better. Artemis character is very very interesting. As is Butler and Holly. For those of you with active imagination, you won’t find it hard to visualize the “people”. It is a book about a 12 yr old but certainly not limited to readers of that age. I am excited about this series and I recommend it for people who are looking for a new fantasy series to read. This one is different from Harry Potter because half of it is set in our world with normal people. Artemis is a genius but posseses no magic or superpowers . The writing is lucid and very easy to read. The book is absorbing, couldn’t stop turning the pages. Seems less emotionally intense than Harry Potter, but that’s not a bad thing at all.

I didn’t buy much of how the fairies were done as technical marvels and the whole idea of a 12 year old BOY could do and think all these wonderful plans is well, half baked. Not sure if a 12 year old mind could quiet grasp such concepts so easily. The over teched faries and their allies were overdone. Fairies can still be faires w/o all the gadgetry and stil be dangerous. But the faries here weren’t particullary dangerous just overdone and arrogant and it took soemthing away with all this tech they amazingly have. The writing was moving but the author did come in and add himself in the commentary and as a case file, well I hope the next batch of case files are better. I did like Butler. He did have a conciensce and it did show. There were brief flashes that also appealed to an adult reader, but they were subtle but thoughtful. Not exactly a powerhouse book. Also the faires themselves seemed just as destructive as the mud people (we humans) they looked down on. Root toking on a stogie? Odd…

I didn’t know much about the brand and was very reluctant to buy, but for the price and size of the card you really can’t go wrong. I’ve always had good experience with SanDisk but couldn’t justify paying double for the same type of card. I can’t say that the Transcend is any better or worse than the equivalent SanDisk, but as far as taking pictures and video I have no complaints. The videos look sharp and clean with no lag. Pictures load fast and look great. I definitely would consider Transcend more in the future.

I am so happy with my Kindle that I bought one for my husband for his birthday. He takes it everywhere with him, and as an attorney it is perfect – he can keep his PDFs on there for easy access and can read while he waits at court, at the doctor, wherever.
All the sceptics I know who have seen my Kindle now love it and quite a few friends and family members have ordered their own.
The service is great, even in South Africa. Thanks Amazon!

Bought this with my Canon FS200 video camera and it worked fine for about 8 months, then it croaked. Quit working and I tried pretty much everything to reinitialize it with no luck. Bad boot sector parameters unable to recover.
Probably won’t buy a Transcend for a while.

Wii, needless to say, is an excellent system. Graphics are excellent, games are fun, and you can interact with people on the internet. You can play both wii and gamecube games and the Wii has several memory blocks, so you won’t have to worry about a memory card for a while. It has some annoying, but fortunately not serious faults, however. The sensor bar is too delicate, so if you’re playing a game or on the menu screen, and it does not respond correctly, you either have to restart the system or (usually)buy a new one. Because of the wii remote and and sensor bar, you should expect to spend a lot on batteries if you don’t have have rechargable batteries or if your playing a game that requires the use of the wii remote and sensor bar. Overall, not as good as some nintendo systems, but it is definitily worth buying.
