I really enjoyed this novel. The plot and the characters meshed together very well. You can feel the fear of the maids, feel the hostility of a couple of the employers, feel Skeeter’s empathy. This book gave to me, a whole new revelation of the interactions of black and white back in the 60s, particularly the maids and the children for which they cared. It would seem to be much more complex than I ever thought. The author made me think and consider things – the mark of a great book.
